Apps/windows keep hiding/disappearing

I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion, I've got this weird thing going on where the windows keep vanishing - except the window I am typing into. If I am saying Safari like I am right now, the other windows I am not using will become hidden, and all the other applications I am using will also become hiding. Any idea why this is happening and how to stop it? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

You might have for some reason Single Application Mode enabled. Try running this in Terminal:

defaults delete com.apple.dock single-app

Thanks for the tip - but no, that didn't do it. I can have multiple apps open and visible at the same time, but then after about 1-2 minutes working in one window, the other apps/windows become hidden.

Sorry to use your thread to ask another question about a new ML install but...
My Mountain Lion Dashboard does not work! Well OK it kinda works if I don't want to add any more stuff there but the Plus button at the bottom does not bring up the grid and the minus button does not make everything jiggle!

I've tried restarting the dashboard and the mac but it still does not work? Anyone else got this or is it just me?

Do you have BetterTouchTool installed by any chance? If so, you may need to stop by the site and download the latest release. It may not show up on the autoupdater.

Hey, I found the problem - EarthDesk. I switched that off and the problem went away. Yay!

I have this problem. Apps are still open but when I click on the icon they don't open the window. I have minimize applications into icon window checked - some apps reveal the window when i click on their icon - some don't such as google chrome and ableton live 9. To get the window to open I have to right click the icon - show all windows - click on the window. This is a pain - any ideas?
