Since upgrading to a 6S from a 6, SOME of my apps have lost Touch ID authentication capability. They work but the ability to just login with Touch ID is missing. Do the developers need to update these apps to recognize that the device has touch id capability? or would it be cause by doing a restore via iTunes?

Maybe you just need to re-establish with your new phone. I did an iTunes restore from my 5s to my new 6s, and had no problems. Had to reauthenticate with USAA, but no problem with LastPass or DataVault.

re-establish? I bank through Wings Financial and their fingerprint option disappeared. Same for US Federal. Anyone have the same issue?

My 6 was on 9.0.1 and before i reset it, those apps are the same version and touch id authentication is there. Yesterday my wife upgraded to a 6S as well, seems like those apps lost their touch ID capability because we set her phone up as new.

Stupid question but I assume you've re setup Touch ID completely for everything? I had to turn it back on for home screen, App Store, etc. Then when apps were reloaded some of them had to have the Touch ID option reenabled. (Weird process here. Some of my apps were restored with backup, some came down as new from App Store so options weren't as I had them before.)

If you've checked all of that, then I've no clue. :)

Most apps was restored but everything works fine except for the Touch ID authentication capability. Its strange because i redownloaded US Federal app again and now its got the touch id authentication but for Wings Financial, no.

On the subject of apps that use Touch ID, I'm coming from a 5 and this is my first experience with it. I'd love to use Touch ID to open financial apps, but I know my kids will want to set their fingerprints to open the phone as well. Is it possible to specify certain registered Touch ID fingerprints to access certain apps? So the kids can get into the phone, but not the financial apps?

I don't think you can specify a certain fingerprint for authentications but it would be cool if possible

Yeah, that's like having separate users for the iPad. No and/or not yet. All of these devices are treated as personal. I know a lot of people want to be able to wall off things like that.

As for the OP issue, makes no sense at all. Touch ID apps usually only depend on their having passwords that work and then you can add Touch ID.

Well, yeah, but if they're smart enough they can update Touch ID with the password. :)

Ya never know...

Yeah, that's the problem. There really ought to be a way to limit certain finger prints for certain purposes.

Some of my apps are that way, where you login first then go to the settings to add Touch ID authentication but it's not that way with Wings Financial. I was able to contact the webmaster and at least he's relating my issue towards the group that is responsible for the iOS app. We exchanged some emails back and forth and it seems like they are willing to do what's necessary to fix the problem I have.

LastPass now won't let me use Touch ID to unlock it. It's toggle is turned on but it's requiring my password. Maybe iOS 9 broke this? This is only my Air 2 and iPhone 6S Plus and IPhone 6 Plus.

I sometime wonder if its an iOS 9 issue but my 6 was upgraded to 9 and the apps still works fine. I believe its the developer that needs to update their app.
