The app looks well designed and all but reading the description I can't see the point of it. Launchpad or Spotlight is just as easy and quick to use
The AppStarter is not just a simple launcher like Launchpad. It could be more effective, more convinient and easier to access your applications because it is always on the menubar.

Some of its benefits:
If you are using a favorite application on a project involving many files, you can use AppStarter to open them with just one click.
You can launch several applications with a single click.
You can create your own categories for your apps and you can export them so once you have made your own setup it could be use on any other computer without any problem. - In Launchpad you have to rearrange all of your app again after you have updated your macOS.
You can add folders, documents, webpages to your categories.
The biggest feature is the SmartTools which are bundled and could be useful when you want to do some kind of tasks that SmartTools can do. If you are interested in AppStarter, for more informations please visit its website: http://afinta.net/appstarter.html

Best Wishes!

I see the point of it, and that it could certainly fit some people, but it doesn't appear to be applicable to my workflow. If I needed any of this on a regular enough basis to want tools for it, I'd make a bash script, Apple Script or automator tool to do it. Wouldn't look as sleek but from what I can see would offer the same functionality.

Thanks for calling AppStarter sleek. I understand that you do not need AppStarter because you are an experienced user, but there are many of us who just simply want to use our computers with likeable and easy-to-use applications which are continuously developed and controlled. As you know people are different, that's why the world so beautiful :)
Best wishes!

Yep. And for that I recognise AppStarter as a good looking and functional tool :). Obviously this is only based on the material I can find on the web and not personal use, but it looks like a good choice for anybody who could find its tools usable.
