The title says it. Just happens on my iPad, not on my iPhone though. Whenever I open the appstore it asks for my password. Why is that? Is there a setting I'm missing? Couldn't find anything related to that in my system prefs. Thanks...

I had this on my iPhone recently (haven't experienced on my iPad yet) and it was because at some point an app download had been interrupted. The iPad thinks it's still downloading it so it's trying to access the store and hece your account. You need to find which app it is, delete it and install it afresh.

Hope this helps.

Same here it happens when an app download gets interupted.I can get it to stop by signing out and then back in, but it starts happening again after my apps get updated.

no, its called security. happens on my 3gs as well, just not as often. if you happen to lose your ipad, would you want the person who found it download every single app they could and rack up your cc?? it really isn't that big of an inconvenience. it's also been covered here several times if you bothered to search.

Chill out love juice. He is talking about being asked for a password every time he goes to the app store not only when trying to download. This forum is full of nasty people.

I agree it hasn't been any different than my 3GS , it asks for a password every time I download an app , unless I'm buying several at that time. Then it's just the first app of my new session and can then download whatever till I exit the store.

Why don't you take your own advice , don't get your panties in a wad.

He answered the question .... And made a good point about security and common threads.

Password fix

It's some kinda itunes thing. Whenever this starts happening you can be sure you have a pending itunes download. Go into itunes>downloads and you will find that you have a pending download whether from a season pass or other subscription. Simply download your pendings and the prompt will stop until the next time you have a pending. But when it happens again you know how to clear it.

Lovejuice, the tone of your reply kinda sux big time but just to make myself clear: it's asking me EVERYTIME i open appstore. If you had read my original post carefully you would have noticed that this behavior is completely different from my iPhone's. Being prompted for the pw before downloading an app makes sense and is greatly appreciated by me. Thx for all the other answers. Gonna check out that iTunes setting and hope this will solve it. Thx again for all the helpful replies :)!
