Is there any evidence that apple is working on putting out a bootcamp update to allow the Imacs to install 64bit Windows? I know you can already do it as I did it on my imac right now but I had to instal all the drivers manually off the cd, im sure i missed millions of drivers, neway is there any chance apples patching this up and then will just have a way to get the drivers easier?

April 2008 IMAC AND 64BIT(input appreciated)

The same thing happened to me. The 64-bit Boot Camp drivers that came with my new iMac did not install, I had to install them one by one. In the end I found out that there is a problem with the current Boot Camp 2.1 drivers, so I had to download the 64-bit Mac Pro 2.01 drivers off of a BitTorrent site and install them instead. They installed without a hitch and then I just updated to the 2.1 drivers from the Leopard DVD. Now all is working fine.
A Viable Workaround?
Tsurisuto -- Did you use this BitTorrent download on an iMac? I have the new 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo version and tried to install Vista Ultimate 64-bit only to find out Boot Camp won't let me install the Windows drivers from my install disc. If this is a workable solution that'd be great. I'm finding on other discussion boards that the iMac issue gets "solved" by people with Mac Pros and MacBook Pros...they already enjoy BootCamp support, and their solutions may not apply. Right now it appears I wasted quite a bit of money on this little sojourn.

Yeah, the Orange Box. I don't even like 1st person shooters, but Half Life and Portal are both excellent!
I just finished installing Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my iMac this weekend. So far, so good. I haven't yet run it through its paces, but I am hopeful.

It is interesting to see if you don't have the same issue as me. As if it is a driver issue, then surely it should affect all 24" 3.06Ghz iMac users?
Can you do me a favour and let me know if you have any issues with screen tearing in games or otherwise?
Do you see a performace boost running 64bit as apposed to 32bit? Dont the apps/games specifically need to be compiled to take full advantage of 64bit?
As far as I am aware if you dont have anything that specifically says 64bit version its going to fall back to the 32bit version anyways. Besides are you going to be in windows that long to take advantage and if so why buy a Mac?

Reading reviews of Vista, most people agree that the 64bit version is more stable and solid than the 32bit version. Plus, I wanted to take advantage of my 4GB of RAM while playing games.
Cheers mate. But it doesn't just happen in gaming. Grab any large window, (i.e. the internet browser window) and move it quickly left and right across the screen, it should happen then too.
