is there a link to this? i got excited for a min if this was true but couldn't find any info :( apt x and nfc pairing would have been nice additions if they plan on removing the headphone jack on future phones. I've wondered if aptx really does provide cd quality sound over bluetooth. quite a bold claim and awesome if true.

Your question just sent me on a quest to find out what aptX and here I am now with the Bluetooth Explorer option to force it on my BT headphones on macOS and my ears thank you sir. Sadly I don't think it's made its way to iOS yet but it should!

Apt x is no longer really required since Bluetooth now has much higher bandwidth to support uncompressed audio. Apt x never really even offered particularly high sound quality. The selling point was low latency based on ADPCM.

I worked in the broadcast industry and we used apt x for years but it is now redundant.

no aptx, just AAC codec support (which sounds fantastic to me with headpones that support it)
