I don't trust the guys behind it. Mr. Anon emailed me (since I didn't follow it) saying that they had basically ripped off one of my game poster pics for their poster art at some convention.
It's so much like the great exploration 2D games of the 8-Bit era, like Metroid and Wonder Boy III with some of the flare of todays graphics. Played correctly this game could last you a very long time. I've played most of the demo, and have some 7+ hours in it, and I don't think I've found everything I can.
I can't wait for the Mac version. It plays ~ok in Parallels, but there are obvious slowdowns.
It definitely does look good. I don't know anyone involved, so I have no idea who's trustworthy or not. Certainly some game devs are, um, "flattering" in their use of source material. The most blatant case I can remember was the screen you saw upon rescuing the princess in Cinemaware's 1980s game Lords of the Rising Sun. It bore an exceedingly close resemblance to Michael Whelan's cover of Daughter of Regals by Stephen R. Donaldson, from about a year earlier. At least they had the decency to flip it horizontally, and I think they changed the background a little.
