Is anyone running Archicad 25 on the latest macbook pro M1 promax 64gb - if so, how is it?

And does anyone have an ETA on when Archicad will be native for the M1?

I am running ArchiCAD 25 (NOR) on a MacBook Pro M1 Max, with 64 GB RAM. The overall performance is not at all ground-breaking, but some performance improvements in surface menu, and surface painter. I work a lot with point clouds and I had really high hopes that the M1 Max with 32 core GPU would make this a breeze, but alas... Absolutely no real-life improvements over my old 2018 Intel MacBook Pro. In my opinion, Graphist should focus on boosting performance on ArchiCAD 26, because it seems that no matter what hardware you throw at it, there are no real performance boosts to justify the cost of upgrading hardware.

I spoke with Graphisoft Norway, and they said that Graphisoft are planning on bringing support for Apple Silicon 'next year'. This could be AC26 or AC27.

And Twinmotion does not support the new path tracing feature on any Macs either. Very disappointing.

Not even the 2022.1 Preview? I have not tested it extensively, only converted a couple of old models to see if the 3D performance had improved. At least in my case, Twinmotion performs way better than my previous MBP 2018..

Nope. Twinmotion 2022.1 preview does work great on my M1 Max and renders fast but the path tracing feature does not work at all. Shame because it looks amazing on my Razer Blade.

My version of ArchiCAD crashes every time I close it too. I use Start Edition 2020.

Yes, ArchiCAD does crash if you quit the application. However, this is a macOS Monterey issue rather than an M1 (Max) issue

Thanks guys. looks like V26 will be native M1. Until then the best we can hope for is a non crashing version. My M1max arrived today, so I'll know in a few days if its any quicker than the 6 core trashcan.

I have a 12-core trash can, and it doesn’t even come close to the performance of M1 Max. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, but ArchiCAD performance will not impress anyone.

Hello,
after a few months could you give us some feedback on Archicad and the new MacBook Pro?
I know Archicad is not M1 native yet and Monterey is immature, but I would like to know how the performance is.
M1 Pro is enough or M1 Max 24 core or 32 core are better for 3D and rendering? Thanks, bye.

M1 Max runs like a dream - mostly. All works well with release 5005. Can't wait to see how v26 runs on the Studio Ultra. But the new Studio display is simply too small and not worth it for architectural work. Min for CAD work should be 40" 4k to give 3456 x 2160. 2 of these plus a Studio display run fine on the M1max Macbookpro.
