I'm having airport issues and it appears as though something isn't quite right in os x. windows has no issues with the airport. I want to archive and install, but does this mean that I will have to reinstall bootcamp, windows and all my windows apps? if so that will be a huge PITA.

OS X will only reinstall onto its partition. Windows will be just fine on the other side with or without OS X.

Just don't erase and install!

I had to do the same thing since I farked OS X with kernel extensions. An archive and install later everything is fine!

if your having osx problems it is better to do erase and install, a lot of people might disagree but ive had problems not solved by archive before, it keeps to much.

Will it erase the entire drive and not just the OS X partition?

If so you might format the OS X partition using Disk Utility. Leave the Windows partition untouched and then to an install from there.

i've got some airport problems, and they only are in osx. everything works great in windows  also, what data gets saved? I do a lot of music archiving and have around 85 gb of lossless on my HD right now and don't want to have to move it around.

I believe that only /Users is saved while the system folders are rewritten. There's a slim chance /Applications might survive as well.

I had an Airport issue as well that was fixed with an Archive & Install.

Archive & Install will preserve ALL your data, old system files go into a "Previous System" folder. Erase & Install will delete everything on the selected partition. Neither methods will touch Windows on a separate partition.

so if i put all my files in a folder on my desktop i won't lose them? I really don't want to lose this data, but it will make it a heck of a lot easier if i don't have to move it all around
