My archive folder contains a copy of every email in my inbox.

I thought that when a message was archived it moved from my inbox.

I'm not moving these emails into the archive folder.

Does anyone know why all of my emails are automatically duplicating in my archive folder when they come in?

I've checked rules and there's nothing there.

Many thanks in advance,
Keith.

Yes. This use to work better before Catalina (I think or I might have had some settings different). Let me start over.

I installed Catalina fresh a few days ago. I'm slowly tweaking things the way I want them. One problem I discovered today is Gmail is acting different. As you say, "Inbox" is just a copy of "Archived".

The reason is because Gmail doesn't really have folders, etc. It just had tags. Mail apps have adapted to this. There may be a setting in Mail Preferences to help with this. As I said... I just bumped into it.
