does anyone know if airpods are interchangeable with the case?

Are airpods (both right and left) permanently linked to a case? Do they have their own serial numbers? I can see a serial number on my case- but nothing on the airpods itself.

For example, if I take your right airpod, and put it in my case with my own pre-existing left airpod - will they both work and allow me to listen to audio via my paired iPhone?

The AirPods are not individually labeled with a serial number. You can use a different set of AirPods with the battery case, as they are interchangeable. You would just need to pair those AirPods initially with the battery case once you first start using with the iPhone.

I have a somewhat similar question. Can I use 2 sets of airpods with the same charger case?
