Hello all... I purchased a MBP with an ipod and printer about 6 weeks ago, and submitted rebates for the "Major in Mac" and "Perfect Companion" promotions totalling nearly $300. I mailed in the paperwork nearly a month ago, and when I check the status online, it says that they have not received my mailed-in submissions.

I know it takes 6-8 weeks for them to send the checks, but I assume that the status should be updated to say "processing" or whatever. Recently I've been running into problems with companies not paying rebates when I've followed the instructions exactly, and it infuriates me to no end.

For many of these companies, it's more or less a scam. They know a large percentage of people aren't going to bother sending in the paperwork, and then they hope the people who do forget about it by making them wait for 6-8 weeks.

In any event, did other people who sent theirs into Apple have that online status thing updated fairly shortly after mailing in the paperwork, or is it normal for that to say that they haven't yet received it?? (The person I called at Apple sounded only semi-literate and was of no help). Thanks!!

I've never bothered checking the status on either of the 2 rebates I've gotten from Apple. *shrug* Not a problem for me.

Thanks Hired Goon... that does make me feel better. Of course, if that's the case, what's the point of them providing an online status if they're not going to update it?!? When I've received my check, I'll know the status, sigh...

It just means it sitting in a pile somewhere. When the pile gets big enough, they'll bring in a bunch of temps to process them in a big batch.

Did the exact same two rebates and was probably 3 weeks total turnaround. My status was updated.

[Edit] I entered the rebates electronically. I didn't use the paper forms. That might have helped.
