I'm planning to get a 3G in the mid-term, namely when stock is more available and my current cell phone plan expires at the end of August.

In the mean time I have upgraded my iPod touch to firmware 2.0 and was wondering if anyone knows how the licensing for apps works. If I buy an App through iTunes on my current account and use it on my iPod, when I eventually get a 3G will I need to repurchase those apps?

In summary: are licenses tied to the device or the iTunes account?

Nowhere on the App store/iTunes FAQs do I see this mentioned.

They work pretty much the same way as music. You can download the app and then sync it to any of your authorized devices.

As long as you use the same iTunes account you can download the app as many times as you want, only paying once. Once you've paid for it, just go to buy it again (put your password in etc) and you'll get a message saying "You have already purchased this application. To download it again for free press OK".

Hope that helps!
