Are the replacement batteries they sell for the iPhone 6s on ifixit.com good quality at all? Will they perform better or worse than the ones being sold at batteriesplus.com (this one actually requires you to go their store to get it serviced)

Here are the links for them, they are both OEM (I think)

https://www.ifixit.com/Store/iPhone/iPhone-6s-Replacement-Battery/IF314-011-1

Neither company is manufacturing their own batteries. So the answer could vary day by day.

Unless you can establish that either company has a standard of only buying the best possible batteries available, then you'll need to identify the specific make, model, manufacturer, etc. battery and evaluate that specific part.

How do they compare to this one that claims to have been taken from store display iPhones? Is this supposed to be an actual original battery?

By the time I need a battery replacement, its time to upgrade to a newer iphone, i kept my iPhones usually no longer than 3 yrs. instead of spending cash on batt replacement, i upgrade to the latest iphone. So I feel not so far behind with better performance. But my mini ipad2 i hv kept it longer than iphones, its just a browsing device when I'm at wifi hot spots.

Apple charges $79.00 at an Apple Store to replace the battery which in my humble opinion is worth it rather than doing it yourself and possibly damaging the phone in the process.

I have replaced my 6s+ with one of ifixit's batteries, and it's been good. As mentioned in the post above though, just do it at apple, especially if you don't have all the required tools. The toolkit they sold for the iPhone 6s+ required some additional tools that would definitely have cost more than $79 that apple charges. Also, it's not a super easy process.

I'd also recommend the official $79 Apple battery. I've done replacements from ebay for coworkers and they've been less than satisfied with them. iFixit is a good company but I'd still pay the extra cash for Apple.

I know this is old, new problem for me since Apple refuses to do the 70 dollar replacement battery. They claim there is a small amount of water damage near the ear on the inside, yet phone is and has been fully functional. So since Apple has black marked us in the computer system and no Apple store will change out the battery, what are the experiences with the after markets? Sad that Apple is doing this to us and others. Have read a lot about this after they got sued, this new tactic that is to force folks to buy a new or refurbed phone.

Ifixit batteries work well, I’ve replaced my iPod battery and I have zero complaints. If you’re comfortable doing the repair yourself they include the tools necessary to perform the repair and YouTube has instructional videos to follow

Thanks have no issue in doing the repair, just concerned about longevity. Also, I just read that the new Apple Battery Beta does not work with a 3rd party battery. Not surprising.

I've replaced tons of batteries. It's pretty easy, unless you have a 5S (there's a cable that you have to be careful with when removing the screen).

iFixit batteries are generally pretty good. I've had good performance with them

I bought a Yontex battery for my iPhone6 (from Amazon) and it worked well in the beginning, but it's crapping out now. It's only 4 months old, shows 172 cycles, and is at 85% health (Coconut Battery). Luckily, I've kept my OEM Apple battery and will put that back in and go to an Apple Store (sometime in the future) and get my $29 replacement.

That's what I want, would even pay full price but Apple says because there is a trace of old water inside near the ear, they will not replace the battery! They want me to trade, buy new of refurb unit!

Just realize that when replacing the battery, iOS will now say the battery needs service since it is not an Apple battery.
What's this about? I don't have an Apple battery and iOS doesn't say anything like this. Is this in the latest iOS version only?

How old is your phone? Is it still under the general warranty, or perhaps you used a credit card with extended warranty.

If you still have CC warranty coverage, get a quote from Apple for an out of warranty service for the battery. It might be something like $279. Submit that quote to your CC warranty servicer and if it all works out, they'll say "yes" and credit your CC for $279. At which point you go to Apple and get your replacement/refurb.

Hopefully you qualify for something like this.

Yes, with Apple power management system.

Interesting. I'm still on 11.3 so I don't get that message in the Battery Health. It's useless anyway since it shows 100% and I know that the battery is jacked (and Coconut Battery confirms).

Does it, in any way affect the phone? I see that it still shows the batter indicator on the top bar just fine. Is there anything detrimental?

I haven't noticed the phone being slowed down in any way. I don't really use it much now. The day I replaced the battery with an iFixit battery in November, I went and ordered a 7+ and then in April, bought an 8+. I'm using the new iPhones on my T-Mobile lines so I really have no use for my 6S+ now. I'm just keeping it as a spare.

I upgraded all these phones from 11.1.2 to 11.3.1 just a few weeks ago.

I bought an ifixit battery for my 6S. After 13 cycles, coconut battery says the capacity is 53.8%. I emailed their support with a screenshot of the capacity and I'm waiting to hear if they'll replace the battery.

If it Was me, I would rather just have the OEM battery from Apple. I know there are other cheaper alternatives for batteries out there, but sometimes you achieve unstable results that are not always cooperating in terms of stability with the battery life. Sometimes its *worth* just spending the extra money for an OEM battery, if someone has the option.

I've used iFixit batteries a few times and had great results so far. They stand by their products and have great customer service, and a good warranty.

For me, doing the repair myself is usually way faster than shipping it to an Apple store. When I use my phone for work I can't afford to have that kind of downtime.

With 13 cycles on my iFixit battery, my phone has begun to do a very rapid battery drain. I got 30 minutes of use and had to put the phone on the charger after about 93 minutes. The battery is failing fast.

Just now, it's gone from 100% to 80% in 20 minutes.

I think I'm going to call back the guy who came to my house in November to replace my 6S+ battery. The battery capacity on the phone is still 100% and the phone lasts me two days on one charge.

Sorry to hear that, try contacting customer service. If it's a new battery they should replace it.

In general, iFixit batteries are no better than ordering a $10 battery direct from China. We've seen the same results on the MacBook Pro forum.
