I imagine they are, but I’m just curious if anyone knows if iPads and MacBooks are made of the same materials.
Cause my silver MacBook Pro 2015 has scratches and dents but they are the same color.
If my iPad got scratched from the magnetic pencil, would it be white or just silver scratches like the MacBook?

thanks.

iPads and MacBooks are both made of aluminum. With the iPhone 6s and later Apple switched from a 6000 series aluminum alloy to a 7000 series aluminum alloy. I believe most MacBooks still use the 6000 series aluminum alloy, however newer machines such as the 2018 Mac mini and newest MacBook Air use recycled aluminum enclosures. These recycled enclosures could be either 7000 or 6000 series alloy.

I have a silver iPad Pro and an older 2013 MacBook Pro. Both have scratches, and I've never noticed the color difference between scratches on each enclosure.

The aluminum in the iPads is sturdier and less prone to denting. Since it is a mobile device, Apple designs it to be held in the hand, and thus better able to withstand drops.

Is 6000 series aluminum cheaper than 7000 series aluminum?

The Air 2, Air 3, iPad Pro 2016, iPad Pro 10.5”, iPad Mini 4, and iPad mini 5 had the same propensity of bending (look up those bend tests on YT.) Anyway, I’m not worried about that at all. I only worry about battery, display stuff, and scratches.
Yep the ipp was the one that cause all the rokus and ppl finding them bend out of box and out of their bags
