Even if there is a crack in the case? Debating if I should just sell my iphone that is unlockable with crack or trade in with apple and get a new phone with the latest BL?

Thanks!

You can unlock any iphone 3G. So if it's cheaper to get a "locked" iPhone go for it because you can downgrade the baseband on 2.2.1 from 2.30.xx to 2.28.xx(necessary for unlock).

Over the weekend I unlocked my relatives iPhone 3Gs. One have 2.2 (really easy) and 2.2.1 (needed a couple extra steps).

So how do you go about downgrading the baseband to 2.28? I know that I can use the fuzzyband downgrader, but that only works if you have the 5.08 bootloader. Unfortunately, I have the 5.09 bootloader.

Think you can point me in the right direction?

Hmm... I guess I stand corrected. The newer iPhones having the 5.9 bootloader can't be downgraded.

I guess I was in luck unlocking those iPhone 3Gs with bootloader 5.8
