In two days I'm leaving for a tour that last 5 months and I don't have time to mail order an iPod battery for my 1st Gen iPod. Does anyone know if there are any computer stores (CompUSA, Apple Store etc.) that sell iPod batteries?
i know that apple stores do not sell them...im not sure about compUSA....I would try places like macmall and whatnot...just google ipod replacement batt...i know they are super easy to install
:edit: whoops didnt see that you dont have time to order one ive never seen them at either of those places...search the compusa site and see if they stock them online...obviously if they arent on the site then they definetly are not in the store...GOOD LUCK
I don't think they're readily available, because those kinds of stores usually don't sell items that are officially not user replaceable. Are you leaving the US? Can you order one online and have it sent to a hotel or friend/associate's house or something, along your trip route?
I'm going to be on a boat for most of the time. I'll be in Mexico, the Carribean and Latin America for a month and then I'm off to Alaska. To boot, I lost my debit card today so I can't order a battery online anways! I've given up on finding one in a store for now and I'm too broke to buy a new one. Hopefully I can find a new iPod in Alaska or Costa Rica
You didn't say where you live, but J&R in downtown Manhattan carries third party batteries for the 1G iPod in the store $40+tax. It winds up being about a 20hour playback time.
I wish I lived in NYC! That's the reason I am doing this gig... so I can save up enough to move to NYC. Anyways, I live in Columbus, Ohio and have had no luck so far in finding a battery in stores.
Depending on the generation of your iPod, you can also check out Other World Computing: http://www.macsales.com -- they sell higher-power DIY replacement batteries for some iPods.
Edit: I think they have an overnight delivery option on some of their stuff - it might be worthwhile checking out.
