I store a lot of important stuff in "Secure Notes" within Keychain Access on macOS. See example here.

Unfortunately these entries cannot be viewed on iOS and iPadOS. One could use the Notes.app, which syncs to iPhone and iPad. Such notes in the Notes.app are can be secured with a password. See Secure features in the Notes app. Does that have approximately the same level of security as "Secure Notes" within Keychain Access?

Believe so. Notes are encrypted end-to-end on the passcode. With iOS 16, it looks like the "unlock with" FaceID/TouchID/device passcode option in Notes is using iCloud Keychain to maintain the master passcode for the Notes (seeing the iCloud entry "octagon-com.apple.security.keychain" changing when unlocking a Note) and the Keychain is encrypted end-to-end as well.

So if feel comfortable with saving passwords in iCloud Keychain, should have no concern with the Notes.
