If I tallied up my use case;
Use around the home; AirPods (much easier to drop in/take off and can be used with just one ear)
Use on the train; BeatX (far better sound isolation)
Use walking from station to work; AirPods (its a city, so spatial awareness is important)
Use in work; AirPods (again, can be used with just 1 ear on conference calls and such whilst still able to talk to people around you)
Use when working out; BeatsX (more secure fit when lifting, running, etc, I find I need to adjust the AirPods every so often to maintain the sound quality)
Big picture, the AirPods are a better option for the majority of tasks, and as long as you're not bothered about the sound (AirPods still sound great, especially when you turn on the EQ, but Beats will always have the edge here) then AirPods make more sense overall.
HOWEVER, if all you'll use them for is commuting, travelling and working out, then BeatsX 100%. My uses could justify owning both, but it would be purely for convenience rather than any other tangible benefit.
