Are sandisk and sony memory sticks compatible with the new imacs?

I have those sticks for my psp and the work great. PS3 sees them perfectly and the old pc I had, but for some reason my brand new imac doesn't see the memory stick I put in.

Am I putting it in the wrong way or do I need to buy something extra to get them to work on my mac?

I think that the SD Card slot only reads SD cards, regardless of whether the Song Memory Stick will actually fit into the SD card slot.

It may also have something to do with the fact that Memory Stick was originally formatted by a PS3 or PSP and not a camera, but I am not sure.

Correct. The SD card slot can only read SD cards.
