How long should it take for us to see the replacement part numbers, to get a clue about if the hinges are new?

If the # stays the same, that's a disappointment.

But if the part # changes, then if the hinges are still being sold in package that includes the long narrow grey plastic antenna cover that fills the space between the 2 hinge covers.... well, if the distance between those hinge covers has shrunk any, then that middle plastic piece would be smaller, too, necessitating a new replacement parts SKU. But the hinges in that set of parts could be unchanged.

Hopefully the teardown will address this question.

Otherwise, overall everything sounds good! And pretty close to what I expected for the 13".

I can live without the backlit keys I guess, but no slot for a cable lock... aggggh.

It looks like they went to the MBP hinge design and did away with the flimsy clutch design that one poster likened to a hand holding a Pringles can.

Seems to be quite a bit more "beef" in the lower rear case area around the hinge so I'm guessing the "MacBook Air hinge issue" is (thankfully) a thing of the past.

Gonna hit the retail store Friday and that'll be the first thing I check, and I will likely be walking out with a 13 inch shortly thereafter.
