Hi. Im new on here..
I have been scouring the forums for a week or so now for the iMac and MBP.

Ive finally decided to go for the 27" i5/i7 model but the constant complaints I've read doesn't exactly help.

Once and for all are the problems finally over?
(Flickering, yellow, HDD, airport, noise etc etc etc)

There just doesn't seem to be a straight answer anywhere, seems like its pretty much touch and go and trial and error for most people. Im on my computer 14+ hours a day I don't have time to deal with stuff like that.

I'd also prefer to avoid Apple direct since here in CA we get reamed with Sales Tax, the problem here is no store can fully guarantee how old their stock is.

I want this thing now this sucks..Any advice experts out there?

Thanks!!:D

Maybe for some they are.

I'm on unit 4 now. Still the same range of problems.

I'm convinced there will be a slight mod/update at some point to finally tackle this issue completely.

Some people have had no problems with their iMacs. My week 10 i7 iMac unfortunately wasn't one of those. Mine has a yellow tint and will be replaced under warranty. I purchased apple care, so a technician will come to me and replace it when they have the screen available. In the mean time, I can continue using it.

Nope. They still have the display problem. I got my 2nd unit just last Saturday. Sunday morning I started seeing the red bands (about 4-inches wide) as shown in the first attachment. Then yesterday it got worse, part of the red band started flickering with a bunch of vertical multi-color lines as shown in the 2nd attachment. Apple is shipping me a replacement unit. This puppy is going back.

I'm having an excruciating time trying to decide whether to buy an I7 iMac (probably refurb) or not. I have the money, my need for something better is gradually increasing, and I even have somebody lined up to buy my current (late 2006) one. In fact, he's a friend and is willing to wait until I have a new one long enough to determine that it functions correctly, assuming I decide to do this at all.

The tragedy of this all is it's difficult enough on deciding when to get a new computer and which one to get as it is. To make things worse I was at the local Apple Store last night and it was surprisingly not very busy so I took advantage of the opportunity to extensively play with all the 27" ones they had on display. They were all absolutely perfect! Quiet and no display issues whatsoever! Why can't they all be that way!?!

You're killing me Apple! :(

I'm on iMac #5 (weeks 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12). Yellow tinge on all of them that has gotten worse with each new unit. Totally fed up with Apple. This was my first ever Mac and torn between keeping it in hopes they will fix the screen or ask for a refund and sit on the sidelines until I know for sure the problem is fixed.
