Hello

The Apple rep at the store where I work(military base) says that Apple has not shipped the new 27in iMacs Quad core yet. They have received the new 21in iMac but I do not want that because it is only Core 2 Duo and and I do not like the 256 GPU, I want to get the 27in with the Quad Core and 512 GPU. I will use it for graphic design, animation, music production.
The store still has the old 27in with the Nvidia GForce 120. Is this a good machine? Is the 21in worth it? Should I wait?

The rep says he heard something about the screens being bad already in them and Apple doesn't want to ship them until they are working correctly.

Anyone know anything?

You're just kidding right?

the iMac`s are nice ,and not bad in general , but unfortunately quiet a significant amount
comes with yellow tinge in screen , screen flickering , broken or loud harddrives ,broken bluetooth,...list goes on ,just read through all forums on the www , they are full about it , some even have returned their iMacs 2or 3 times until they got a one without problems
ok some here say they can live with the loud harddrive and fans spinning like mad and a yellow tinged screen
but i would take the advise of your rep and wait a bit maybe end january or february , if you dont need one urgently

...first, there was never an "old" 27" iMac, those were 24" iMac's...

Second, most PX's sold out of the 24" 3.06Ghz machines the day they went on sale as it was the most heavily discounted "best" deal and they are left with lots of the 2.93Ghz machines as the re-seller didn't authorize much of a discount on them vs. the higher model...

MBPs are due for an update in 1-2 months.

Dont let the negs get you down.

There are plenty of "good" ones going out, not all have issues. And even if you did get one with an issue, it would be replaced for free.

And hamster hasnt owned a new mac in 10 years...

thats why i dont get problems i pick the good ones
and i dont need to buying a new 27 imac
to notice that they have issues , reading helps to find that out and mates who bought one too

yes i buy used mac`s , whats wrong with that?
i know in a couple years i have to be very careful with 27inch iMac`s produced in 2009
like i am extremley careful when looking for iMac g5 and eMac`s produced between 2003 and beginning 2005 because of the bad cap issue
so whats wrong with staying informed about potential problems before you buy
