I really am not a fan of AI. Sure it might be helpful and at least Apple has privacy but in order for AI to work it needs large data sets which seem counter to privacy so I am not sure long term how things will play out.
Basic AI to speed tasks and increase battery life are fine but the higher functioning AI is another animal.
The thing that bothers me is I like to know what is going on in my Operating system and with AI it will be impossible to understand what the AI is doing, how it is coded and how it makes decisions. It is all fuzzy. This means the AI could be doing tasks that I don't want and I will never know. On top of all that AI has predictive skills and an ability to manipulate humans so if a bad actor used the AI to manipulate it's customers, get them addicted to using the OS, predictive buying habits, etc.
My point is AI introduces a Trojan horse that a normal person can't really audit what it is doing and why.
I like my electronics to be smart to a point. I also like to be the one in control and not have a co pilot watching everything's I do and collecting this information means that my authority is shared with the AI. What if the AI learns to do things on its own for it's goals and not mine.
I think we are at an inflection point. How much of our privacy and sovereignty will we be able to maintain with AI in every aspect of our lives. Personally I think this could be very, very dangerous.
I think we as customers need to start pushing back and asking tough questions. If our Operating systems are not in our control and we have semi conscious autonomous AI embedded into the OS what influences could AI pose to customers as AI advances. What are the ethical choices companies will promote with AI moving forward.
If you look at the history of technology that is majorly disruptive and can have military applications it generally causes major changes in the world.
1984 style monitoring and life is becoming a reality and AI can advance a surveillance state and control over civilian populations. We either start to wake up about this encroachment of AI into every aspect of our lives.
