Hello. My 17" MBP (2010 model) is too heavy. Considering to get a new MacBook Air. Anybody tested if the new models are fully compatible with Vista Ultimate 64-bit? I recall reading somewhere in the forum that there were some problems with Bootcamp/Windows and some SSD. Don't know the details... Do you expect there will be compatible problem if I get a small SSD and upgrade to a larger capacity one by myself?

I'm on the same boat with you, getting rid of my 17" due to portability issue. I'd be interested to know about this as well. I guess I'll just have to give it a try once I have received mine.

BTW, I'm not sure you can do DIY SSD replacement with this new Air. They're using direct flash memory, not in the form of SSD.

I cannot imagine Apple wouldn't have taken care of this by now within OS X. The problem I assume you're referring to is the same problem we had with the v 2,1 MBAs as Apple didn't give the drivers for 64-bit Windows on MBAs and MBs.

However, that didn't stop many of us from installing Windows 64-bit. You just have to manually install the drivers. I did it, and it worked great on my MBA. I had 64-bit Windows 7 on my v 2,1 MBA. However, I sold the MBA when I got a ThinkPad to cover the Windows needs. I did that because I needed at least 4 GB RAM to run both OSes with Win 7 running virtually.

We will have to wait and see if there's a BootCamp update allowing BootCamp to install 64-bit Windows on MBAs and MBs. Remember all other Macs have full 64-bit cross platform support in BootCamp. It is too bad, but it's not the end of the world or a problem at all really... if you're willing to manually install the drivers which actually gives you much better drivers anyways.
