I am in the process of saving up for an imac, and my choice is between the 21.5" imac with the 3.2Ghz core i3 processor and one TB of memory OR the 21.5" imac with 3.06Ghz core i3 processor and 500 gigs of memory.
I did the math and taking my student discount into the matter as well as the price of Applecare (which I want) and state taxes, I notice that the price difference will be about $270 or so.
Saving up the extra money will be difficult. But I don't want to buy the wrong computer - it will need to last for a long time. I will be extremely unlikely to be able to buy another one within the next few years.
In your experience, is the difference in processor speed and memory amount worth the extra money? If it helps, I use my computers for research, internet surfing and watching my dvds, and listening to music. I am not a gamer, I don't use photoshop or do graphic design or anything.
Is there anything else I should take into account when choosing one of the options? Since I don't know when the new imacs will arrive or what they will include, I must be content to speculate with what is available to me at the moment.
