iPad Pro Are the Tabs on your iPad Pro 11" refresh often?

I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed their Tabs in Safari reload often

I now have the 1Tb with 6GB RAM and thought the Tabs would stay as they are regardless of the amount of time the iPad was on standby, this was one of the reasons I upgraded also from the 256 to the 1Tb

I have often have the iPad sitting for a good few hours then once picked it up and screen on, all the Tabs needed to be reloaded when I clicked on them...I was sure this 6gb RAM would have elevated all this

It was 9to5MAC who reported stating that 6gb RAM 'how many safari tabs can be kept open without reloading'

Just to add, I don't have many Tabs open, I would say 4-5 at most and they still reload

Generally the more ram your iPad has, the less this is an issue - for example I came from a 9.7” Pro with 2GB of RAM to the new iPP with 4GB and there is definitely a lot less refreshing - previously all my tabs pretty much refreshed most of the time, now I can keep 8-10 open with minimal refreshing. So with 6GB you should have a better experience still. Yet the reality is that this will always happen in iOS unless Apple changes course and alters iOS to have a page file. This is one of my primary complaints about iOS as a ‘real’ productivity tool - I can’t take it seriously until there is a zero chance of losing work because my tabs or programs got flushed from memory.

Still happens, not a lot but it does happen often when the iPad has been sitting dormant for hours

This is a shame and can't understand why the pages NEED to be refreshed, when I load a tab it sort of has a shrunken page with smaller writing then it loads up again properly

Again this is probably due to how crap iOS is, Apple needs to have a year off and stop releasing Hardware or emply a full team to completely overhaul iOS from scratch.

They may unload from memory when in stand by for battery reasons, there could be scripts and videos etc. on pages which you don’t want running when the device is in standby. Just postulating as I don’t know for sure. Does it happen with even just two tabs?

Will try that tonight with just 2 Tabs, when I wake up I will see if they reload.

It’s not for battery reasons. Scripts are suspended as soon as the tabs are not in the foreground. It’s simply because there is no page file, so as soon as iOS determines that the RAM is needed for something else the pages are purged from RAM.
