Yes, I know that on the forum I'll find a lot of stories about defective computers, but I'm still skeptical.

1. Are there any 15'' SR laptops that don't have bleeding, uneven backlighting, and a yellow tint?

2. Are there any 17'' SR laptops that don't have uneven backlighting, bleeding, or a "dark, black band" at the bottom of the screen?

I just don't want to spend $3000 on a computer that has any one of these problems.

Note: I know that the 17'' isn't LED so there obviously may be worse uneven backlighting but I've heard that there are some with almost negligible "unevenness" and there are some with kind of annoying uneven backlighting. Please specify on that.

Thanks!

Mine is perfect!!!! For sure

I absolutley love my macbook pro 2.2g, my friend and i ordered them the day they came out on june 5th and we couldnt be happier, no problems what so ever!!! If you have any questions at all just let me know

My 15" 2.2 GHz SR MBP has a beautiful display (matte, LG) - no dead pixels, super bright, even backlighting, etc. I don't see this yellow tint issue people are mentioning.

Well, what "perfect" really means is "perfect as far as I'm concerned" or "perfect as far as I can tell."

I can say that my hi-res 17" SR is perfect for me. As to uneven backlighting, I've found that on mine it's significantly uneven on the gray boot screen, negligibly uneven and slightly washed out during the first 15-20 minutes of use, and absolutely gorgeous afterwards, once it has warmed up. In fact, after the first twenty minutes or so, it's one of the nicest laptop screens I've ever seen, holding its own, IMO, against the 15" LED models.

I ordered a 17" hi-res matte MBP on Thursday, June 14th. Received it Wednesday, June 20th, and it has none of the defects described by some other unfortunates. I must say I'm very pleased and would consider mine near-mint, if not perfect.

I think there is an effect whereby those with complaints are more likely to well, post and complain, masking the true number of relatively flawless machines out there. If you're all happy, you're less likely to be b*tching about your machine here on MR. Of course, ideally, all the machines would be perfect, and hopefully Apple's exchange policy allows most everyone with flawed laptops to obtain a good one.

I received mine a few days ago -- MBP, HD, Glossy. It's like Christmas every day. When I have to do other things, like hangout with my wife, well, it's a bit of a shame, really.:D

To be perfectly honest with you, I get the feeling that some of these laptop complaint posts are from the competition. But hey, it's just a feeling.
