I went from an older version of OS X to Catalina and formatted my SSD as APFS, since it was going to be converted anyway. The trouble is that Drive Genius from Prosoft Engineering, which I used for years, doesn't work on APFS. They released a new version a few weeks ago, and it still doesn't know how to work on such drives.

Is there a good alternative, or should I just use Disk Utility?

APFS support is still very limited. I am personally hoping DiskWarror adds APFS support, but not holding my breath. Disk Utility is the best choice I think.
