Wow thats quite the price difference there. All I can figure is maybe Cruicial is having a sale of sorts as they are limiting that RAMs purchase to 10 per customer (maybe for the holidays? Have you checked the price from crucial on this model before today?).

They are both crucial brand. I just want to make sure the newegg one is the same as the crucial site one and will work in my powerbook.

The only difference in the crucial one you spotted and th eone that crucial recemends is the speed. One says Speed: 333 and the other Speed: DDR333

The link is from newegg's site to the crucial RAM that they're (newegg) selling.
The Crucial site has a different part #.

I guess price will dictate which way you go.

They are most definitely not the same RAM. Not all Crucial RAM is guaranteed to work in a Mac. Macs are more picky and most PCs about timing and such. The cheeper one may work, but it may not. The more expensive one will definitely work.

Does NewEgg guarantee it will work in your Powerbook? Nope.
Does Crucial guarantee it will work in your Powerbook when you reference the generic Crucial part number? Nope.
Can you tell from the published specifications whether they are indeed the same, and whether the SPD values are set the same for Mac compatibility? Nope.
Does Crucial use the same 1 Gb PC2700 SODIMMs for all of the Powerbook models? Nope.

If it does work, grand, you've saved some money.
If it doesn't then NewEgg doesn't carry the right one, so you'll be hit with shipping charges to send it back, and potentially with a 15% restocking fee.

Wouldn't it be better to deal with a seller who guarantees Mac compatibility in the first place?

According to Crucial customer service the only difference between the RAM listed on their web pages and the same Crucial specifications showing
under a different part number at NewEgg is the part number which I imagine is used to track sales.

They use a different part number and charge a premium to designate that the RAM is guaranteed to work on Apple products.

The RAM DIMMs are all made by Micron.
