last year I stayed up to secure a X and got the color I wanted and storage option as well..... the next morning well into lunch time, I could have ordered the same thing and gotten it launch day and that was when the hardware was “new”. Have we come to a point where staying up and clicking 3 different screens has passed?

Yes. Either people will wait for the Xr or get the Xs. Xs Max has a very high base price. Plus there's already people saying they will hold out another year.

With prices this high yes. But expect an immediate sellout of the Xr.

Given the quick roll out to a large number of counties, I would expect supplies to be plentiful. You always risk it. But it might be worth the bisket, I mean sleep, this time.

I stayed up late last year and fought my way through internet problems just to have a phone that would have delivered two weeks after launch. On launch day, though, I was able to go to a store and get one immediately.

However... the X landed in October and Apple had been making them probably since August so I believe because of the extra time availability was much better.

I think we once again are under estimating demand once again. The S series always oursells the series before hand.
I think that what makes this upgrade cycle so interesting is that from top to bottom, this is the most complete iPhone lineup ever. The iphone 7 is a very capable phone and is now the entry phone. While the Xs Max is just huge. Bigger screen than the note.. like.. their is literally something for everybody (besides those that want a screen the size of a 5s).. and this is something we aren’t used too. Apple is going to sell loads of phones, but they will be spreader out amongst the line this year.

I don’t think you can say that. We don’t know what Apple suppliers will be like, October for the XR, and the same thing with said last year about the 2017 iPhone X with the launch in November, ‘That no one would be able to get their model until 2018’, and that was not the case at all.
