Yes, though not for web development. But I will look forward to playing with Dreamwaver CS3.

I know, I just bought the studio 8 package for £70.00, Do you think a formal letter form the school i go to saying that i am a student there will work?

I guess it won't work anymore in a few weeks.
I will upgrade to CS3 and possibly I'll buy dreamweaver.

I can handle the prices, especially when I consider how much of my business generally relies on the software tools I have at hand. And to upgrade from Creative Suite Standard (or Macromedia Studio 8, which I also have ) to Adobe Design Premium CS3 package is only $600 - not bad.
However, what really gets me is that they have separate versions for Mac and PC. So if I want to use my dual boot MBP with CS3, I'd have to buy two versions to run it on both Windows and OSX.
Macromedia used to ship Studio 8 with both a Mac and PC version...I was really hoping Adobe would adopt this method, but alas they did not.

They shipped a hybrid CD but whatever version you activated you were stuck with (I believe this started with MX 2004)
I used Studio 8 on both OSX and Windows and had no problem activating whatsoever....
That is odd I had trouble getting Studio 8 on both my desktop & laptop - It ended up requiring a call to Macromedia
Maybe just my bad luck
$999 Academic Master Collection Is Cheaper Than Any Upgrade Path
I'm buying the academic Master Collection thanks to my enrollment in local community college Digital Media classes this Spring semester. Gee I wonder why I enrolled in classes there this Spring? Funny how the timing just worked out perfectly.
From an academic purchase point of view the outright purchase of the $999 Master Collection is less expensive than any upgrade path.

i would get the web premium edition, but $1600 is ridiculous! Maybe I will see if I can get an education discount and earn a bit of money from custom website jobs and web templates
I think the real power to CS3 is going to be the workflow improvements when using multiple CS3 programs that formerly didn't always play so nice together.
definitely the design standard academic, and possibly the upgrade (non-academic) to after effects.
problem is with that i am only $300 away from the master suite academic price. but i don't really need anything other than design collection and AE.
