Are you going to buy any part of Adobe's new CS3 software?

I want Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS3 but that would cost me £924

Yes, though not for web development. But I will look forward to playing with Dreamwaver CS3.

I pretty much have to, CS2 is too slow/RAM consuming in Rosetta.

Yeah, I'll probably start off with the Design Premium and pay the difference to get the Master Collection when it's released.

Student discounts are amazing. It's nearly $1500 off the Master collection.

I know, I just bought the studio 8 package for £70.00, Do you think a formal letter form the school i go to saying that i am a student there will work?

Web Premium package all the way!
Upgrade from CS1, going from the oldest, to the newest!

And, no more Rosetta!:D

I have CS! Premium and just purchased the Web Premium & InDesign upgrades.

It was cheaper this way then buying Design Premium & Contribute & Fireworks

I'm not buying it.

Sometimes I just want to paint a stick figure family in their yard. It shouldn't cost me $625 to do that. I'll stick wirth my CS3 beta.

I will be buying the design bundle for school. Not sure which one I want to get though.

I will get CS3 pretty much only for photoshop and illistrator

I will get it, but i never said buying it....;)

I will probably get the Web Standard bundle, but I wish I could do the Web Premium. Photoshop and Illustrator are well worth an additional $100 (educational pricing), but I don't know if I can spare it.

I can handle the prices, especially when I consider how much of my business generally relies on the software tools I have at hand. And to upgrade from Creative Suite Standard (or Macromedia Studio 8, which I also have ) to Adobe Design Premium CS3 package is only $600 - not bad.

However, what really gets me is that they have separate versions for Mac and PC. So if I want to use my dual boot MBP with CS3, I'd have to buy two versions to run it on both Windows and OSX.

Macromedia used to ship Studio 8 with both a Mac and PC version...I was really hoping Adobe would adopt this method, but alas they did not.

They shipped a hybrid CD but whatever version you activated you were stuck with (I believe this started with MX 2004)

I used Studio 8 on both OSX and Windows and had no problem activating whatsoever....

That is odd I had trouble getting Studio 8 on both my desktop & laptop - It ended up requiring a call to Macromedia

Maybe just my bad luck

$999 Academic Master Collection Is Cheaper Than Any Upgrade Path

From an academic purchase point of view the outright purchase of the $999 Master Collection is less expensive than any upgrade path.

I'm buying the academic Master Collection thanks to my enrollment in local community college Digital Media classes this Spring semester. Gee I wonder why I enrolled in classes there this Spring? Funny how the timing just worked out perfectly. :p

i would get the web premium edition, but $1600 is ridiculous! Maybe I will see if I can get an education discount and earn a bit of money from custom website jobs and web templates:eek:

I might only upgrade my Flash v8 to CS3, but only if it offers significant improvement to it. I am still wondering if Dreamweaver is worth the upgrade.

I think the real power to CS3 is going to be the workflow improvements when using multiple CS3 programs that formerly didn't always play so nice together.

definitely the design standard academic, and possibly the upgrade (non-academic) to after effects.

problem is with that i am only $300 away from the master suite academic price. but i don't really need anything other than design collection and AE.
