For me im on the fence, the current MBP design is the best since 2015 maybe ever. Amazing picture and sound quality, efficient cooling, etc.

With the rumoured 2026 M6 MBP having OLED, being thiner, I have concerns about cooling and the screen having burn in issue and so on. Maybe Apple will have a way to prevent this by moving the picture on the screen slightly every however minutes.

Will this years MBP be the last functional design before they have to fix things again like last time with the 2016 design.

Spending £4000+ on this years MBP or hope that Apple don’t mess things up next year.

OP, did you hear about M7?

But I'd wait for M8 myself. 8 is considered a very lucky number by the Chinese, so you know Apple will go all out.

However, M9 is right on that one's heels.

And you know Apple will do something nostalgically special for the 10 or X edition, paying homage to OS X.

But then again, as Spinal Tap would say, 11 is one better than 10.

And I hear M12 will be a super cycle... all the lucky M8 buyers upgrading for the Apple Baker's Dozen edition.

Crystal ball question, but one that I’ve had, too. If you’re interested in the redesign—accepting that OLED has risk of burn-in—then I’d wait until good reviews like Notebookcheck and RTINGS are out with thermal, acoustic, and display performance. Then if it doesn’t meet your expectations, buy a 2025 model from a retailer or refurbished. You’ll probably only be able to get the default configurations though

I’m not too worried about burn in (assuming they use tandem OLED), and I don’t have much static UI on my personal devices. The fan noise, on the other hand… I’m hoping the rumored thinner design doesn’t make them like the 2019 MacBook Pro.

Maybe Apple will have a way to prevent this by moving the picture on the screen slightly every however minutes.
This doesn’t really help burn in because most static images are going to be more than a pixel or two wide.

I went big on the M3 generation so I should be good for a few years - therefore thinking I'll likely upgrade in 26 when it seems like we'll be getting a redesign and tandem OLED. I do a ton of photo/video work and have been extremely impressed by the tandem OLED screen on the new iPad Pros, I'd also love TB5 as I'm hoping Apple will release an update to the Pro Display XDR in the next couple of years (again with tandem OLED, 120hz, 7/8k resolution).

My only issue is that the resale for the higher end BTO options are always pretty rubbish compared to the price you paid - so I'm hoping its 2026 to give me more time to save up :D

Yet again a simple question on here (All though might be a bit pointless) attracts all the idiots that say the same old "just wait for the M26" and so on.

Good old conversations are a thing of the past online now.
In germany is the saying: “who asks dumb questions, gets dumb answers “
