Kind of echo similar sentiments . . I don't qualify for these checks but I do hope that the majority of such money is used to support local small businesses and essential functions as opposed to big purchases from corporations that don’t necessarily need the money as much. I can certainly understand the desire to splurge on something nice though.

if you qualify for a stim check, I wouldn’t spend it on a tech toy - but that’s just me. I would invest it or put it towards savings.

I think the new iPad Pros this year will be the biggest ever leap forward in every conceivable way. It will be hard for anyone to resist upgrading IMO.
Sound like Tim Cook ?

I won’t be upgrading from my 3rd gen 12.9” pro.

I'm using it to pay half my property taxes for the year. I have the rest saved from my tax refund. I used the other half of my tax refund to pay off the remaining balance I owed on a credit card I couldn't afford to pay a few years ago.

This year is all about getting out of credit card debt.

I already have a 12.9" iPad Pro. Also have a 2019 16" MBP that I'm typing this on. Don't need a new one for few years at least

I think I am going to get an iPhone 12(not sure which model yet) That way I’ll have the latest technology on my newest Apple devices(I have an iPad 8th generation WiFi only and an Apple Watch Series 6 GPS only) I am prepaid and Verizon does not provide a prepaid service for the Apple Watch.

I hope this isn’t a political question but.... If you dont need a stimulus check then what are you supposed to do with it?

I know this money can make a huge difference for a lot of people so I’m all for the government doing something for them. But what are people supposed to do if they weren’t financially wrecked? Again, sorry for being dumb on this but last year when I was looking for answers then I was told so many things about what the money is for and I’m still lost...

”The money is to stimulate economy”
“The money is to save in case you get hit later”
“The money is to pay off loans”
”The money is to help people you know”
“The money is to spend on local small businesses so they survive”
“Its your taxes, spend it how you want”

That first one is what I heard (and seen) the most. We were given “stimulus money” to stimulate the economy but that doesn’t make sense when most people just went out and spent it all at Apple and Amazon? The government giving us money in order to make the richest companies in the world even richer just doesnt seem right.

For me then last year I honestly didn’t know what to do so I saved half and used the other half to help friends who were hit pretty badly. But I still have that other half and now i feel bad leaving it in the bank if it’s intended to be put in the economy.

I don't "need" a stimulus check, having a full retirement pension in the bank I have plenty of cash to fall back on, but I'm attempting to leave it untapped as much as possible. As I am a dual citizen with primary residence in the US, I should still be getting it, as I filed my tax returns before I got my pensions so my earnings would appear low. I haven't read too much about this next one so just guessing. My old Plymouth car has some problems, and I'm deciding whether to keep fixing it or sell it for cheap and buy a new car, so certainly the stimulus will go towards that.

As for iPad updates, I'm not sure if I will upgrade from my 2018 12.9" or not, it will take more than a faster chip for me to upgrade. Done buying computers for now.

I think these are pretty good points. From what I read, 64% of Americans are unprepared for retirement with little or no savings. Unless they want to work until death, most will have a tough retirement, if not that of poverty. The urge to consume all the time and buy what pleases us on huge revolving credit card debt is one of the main issues.

Even Apple and Amazon have employees, not to mention the shipping related jobs (I have an uncle that works for UPS).

Whenever possible/practical though, I've been buying from the local Target and Best Buy instead of Amazon. Also, we've been buying a lot more take-out from local restaurants since the pandemic started.

Tell me about it. You see it every year here with people just having to upgrade every single year their iPhones or being on the Apple Upgrade plan and not realizing they’re never going to own their phone. Ultimately to each their own, but it’s a big issue that no one takes time to think about.

Nope. We're going to do the same thing we did with the previous checks, invest them.

It won't matter if they're still crippled by the current state of iPadOS.
