Personally I have AirPods Pro 1 (2021 revision) and I don't need AirPods Pro 3... I feel it's only a small upgrade unless you really care about noise cancellation... I really don't care about AI features, sensors and those things are just gadgets for me... + I don't use AirPods very often.

I have the APP2 with both lightning and USB C cases. The APP3 stay in my ear better for running but my Fit Pro are what I usually wear to run. Still undecided on them. The noise cancelling isn't $249 better.

I intend to. Noise cancellation is a major feature for my use case. I’m also hoping for a more secure and comfortable fit.

What does this mean?
I said "they can do less on iOS 18" and by that I mean that APP3 can do less on iOS 18 than APP2.

For example, with APP3 on iOS 18:
  • it's impossible to see the battery level of APP3
  • and it's impossible to take a new hearing test
Both of those things are possible with APP2. There are more than these two, but they are the show stoppers for me.

Apple say "reduced functionality" when you connect APP3 on iOS 18,
IMHO they should say "reduced functionality compared to APP2".
It's not that you won't be able to use the new features of APP3, I'm cool with that.
It's that APP3 have fewer features on iOS 18 than APP2.

I have some coming this afternoon to test and compare with my APP2.

My living situation necessitates ANC quite a bit, so I'm always seeking out the best ANC I can get.

I'm still on iOS18, but if @msephton has listed the only drawbacks there for APP3 I can live with that.

I'm more worried about the fit and reports of the treble being a bit more pronounced. With earbuds, one really has to test them in their own ears and situations.

When the APP2 came out I upgraded because I loved the NC of my APP1. Upgrading was a no brainer

Time rolled on and when the (non-pro) AP4s came out I added a pair of them to my collection. AP4 is now what I use daily. The NC is very impressive for an open design and they're just easier to pop in and out of my ears throughout the day. I really love how they let my ears "breathe" . Sadly my APP2s are gathering dust now - the AP4's are just that good.

APP3's? I haven't even looked at the specs.

It's done. I returned my APP3 to the branch of John Lewis I bought them from, here in the UK. When asked if they were faulty and I said “yes, they can't do hearing test on my device whilst my AirPods Pro 2 can”.

Semantically I know it's arguable what exactly is faulty in this instance but I feel I represented the issue clearly and succinctly.

Anyway, the retailer took them back no further questions asked, and issued me a full refund. I got the impression that I wasn't the first person to return them to that store.

The noise cancellation stopped working on my out-of-warranty APP2. So I bought the APP3 to use when I need the NC. Otherwise I use the APP2.

I store both in a padded case because I blame (with no evidence) the loss of NC in the APP2 to my dropping it on a slate floor.

Great feedback gang! I was still using AP2 then went to some Beats (basically APP1 from what I read). Was going to look for some APP3 on BF.

I am most excited about the the NC as I sometime work in a high noise environment (kind of like construction site visits). Will be nice to use them as low level hearing pro.
