I'd rate the screen 6/10
And everything else 10/10
I'm really 100% satified by everything but the screen. It's really fast, quiet and beautiful, and the keyboard deserves 10 points of its own
I'd agree with your rating. Everything outside the screen is genius!
I love my 24" aluminum beauty. I'll deduct one point for some minor imperfections in the display and give the machine a solid 9 of 10.
It is the best computer I ever had, maybe because it's my first Mac
I thought that my Dell would have been silent. Which is true compared to my older Computer which was self build. But the iMac makes the Dell even worse. I noticed that I even don't switch on music sometimes. Which I did for my PCs before because of the noise.
So a 10 for the silence.
The screeen is fair. I would prefer it to be matte like my ACD 23". But it is by far not as annoying as I expected it to be.
So a 6 for the screen.
A 4 for the MM which has an ancient sensor. If I would have bought it I would have hated myself for wasting money for that. The Logitech MX Revolution is faboulus.
A 9 for the keyboard. I can not describe how much I love that. The german layout features a damn small Enter key which annoyed me at the beginning but you get used to it. For a switcher the keys used in programming are a bit hard to find.
A 10 for the packaging
A 6 for the iSight camera, I'm sitting too far from away from the screen so that it mostly cuts of my head. But it is nice to have it integrated so that it does not add any more cables.
A 12 for the operating system Simply amazing!
For those that did not buy one yet, take a 2gb one and add another 2gb. That makes vmware fusion run extremly smooth.

In order to maintain happiness you will need to make sure - never get near any previous generation of iMac 20" or 24".
My second white iMac 20" arrived today. I paid full price for it and I am very, very happy! When I get near a new one it makes me even more happier.

I have to disagree with you. I have wanted a 24" iMac for over a year now and I couldn't open up my wallet and take the plunge, something wasn't right from those white toy-like models. White plastic and a metal stand looks wrong. The new set of iMacs is what I was looking for in style and fit and finish plus the glossy screen, love it all.
your right the aluminum just looks so much better when u walk into an apple store and see a white imac sitting next to the new ones while a mac genius works on it the aluminum looks 10x better
I don't know about that. My previous iMac was a 20" Core Duo. While I thought it was a great machine, I much prefer my 24" Al+SiO2.
It's my first bite of the so far I will give it 10/10 on the software front. I know you read that OS X is so much better than Windows but until you try it, you can't really appreciate the difference. It just works! That is how I would describe the OS. At first I was confused by the installation process. I mean you just copy to the Applications folder? That's it!! Can't see the wood for the trees springs to mind after years of Windows......
It starts up quickly and goes top sleep in instant. What more could you want from a computer? Installing Realplayer was a pleasure actually as I was hesitant as I can't stand that spyware, sorry, app on a PC, but on my Mac it just hides in the background and doesn't try to take over every file extension! Praise the lord.

It could be new toy paranoia though. Compared to my prop engined Dell, it's a mouse so I am not overly concerned. The keyboard is perfect as well.
The screen is glorious to be honest (and no dead or stuck pixels) At first I thought that 24 would be huge but you get used to it very quickly. Being able to have multiple windows open is an eye opener for sure. Screen real estate is important. The gloss is not an issue for me and after a couple of days you really appreciate the difference it makes to photos and video content. They just pop.
Overall, so far, it's the best computer I have ever owned and would recommend it in instant to potential buyers.

I'd have to go with 8/10. I love it. I was really worried about the screen and the keyboard but after working with it, it's not a problem. My main beef is with the keyboard. I took off cuz the keyboard cord is too short (and they don't offer a full size bluetooth keyboard.) I also took off cuz I wish I had more USB connections. (I have to use a hub cuz the keyboard takes one slot and if I used the crappy Mighty Mouse, it's also use one slot). Oh yeah, the usb ports on the keyboard can't power the iPhone which is crazy.
It's not that crazy is it? It's not a powered hub after all.
Would you prefer having a power cord connected to the keyboard?
I moved from a Mac Pro to the 24in 2.8ghz iMac. Great decision. I'm loving EVERYTHING about this computer. The screen is great, the computer runs fantastic. Sure it's not as fas as the Mac Pro, but I barely notice it at all.
i'd give the screen 9/10 - slight lighter left side, but almost not noticeable. Matter of fact I can only really tell when the screen is all one color (except dark). But that's almost never so I have no complaints

Functionality of all in one 9/10 - Need more USB ports now, but just ordered an small hub that'll velcro on the back. Mac Pro had 1 or 2 more, but who cares... the iMac is slick!
Heat 9/10 - I can't complain cause my Mac Pro fricken roasted, so having this up on my desk is way cooler than my Mac Pro was. It gets mildly warm on top but nothing that burns or I would consider excessive. I'm reading 105.3' F on core 1 & 107.2' F on core 2. This is after 1 hour of playing World of Warcraft. Just shut it down so it's pretty accurate.
Bias factor for being a mac fan.... 10/10 but I have high standards and it met all of them.
Overall Happiness factor 10/10. Great decision to switch for me.
BTW I have to plug this program cause I love the hell out of it... pandorajam. Just downloaded it today. Rock on!

Hmm, that's odd. The keyboard is powered from the computer and the USB ports power up my iPod and fully charge the battery.
10/10. Everything is great so far, with the exception of the mighty mouse (which is ok, but nowhere near as good as my £7 5-button mouse - buttons for expose all windows and desktop are great).
I've only had one major problem so far - and that was windows formatting the wrong part of the hard drive, causing me to lose a load of data! That was my fault really though, for not reading the instructions and using the wrong xp disk. And I was planning to do a reinstall anyway (I can never bring myself to trust any OS install done by the company that made the computer, apple or pc )

These number are VERY impressive in general - I wonder what these would have looked like for the original 24" C2D?
Why put "Don't own one" as an option? To me that only sways the results. If you don't own one then it doesnt matter. This is a question for people that actually own the machine I would assume.
Yeah, good point. It's unscientific and we can at least look at the numbers. I personally was more interested in the number of people who said they didn't like it.
