It looks like Apple and ATT contracts are going to expire in June 2010.

A) Do you hope Apple drop ATT as the exclusive carrier in America and get other on board (like Verizon, etc).

or

B) Have ATT continue as the exclusive hog, but cheaper iPhone price.

For me, I hope Apple get other on board so I can make free calls to whoever I want. We know ATT won't give up w/o a fight. So they might offer some sort of incentive to Apple. I wonder what these new incentives could be. I think I'm going to waite until next summer to get on board.

A) We have over 9000 of these type of threads, literally. Just use the Search feature next time.

B) Unlikely due to the current spat between AT&T and Verizon. Also Verizon is smacking the iPhone. So, highly doubt that SJ will be happy about that.

haha yes really another one.

like I post in all of these threads. If apple is smart..they will open it up to other carriers. Now that HTC is pretty much on Sprint Verizon and T-Mobile..At&t's main competition..the iPhone in a few years..maybe even months (depending on how fast the HTC guys are working) will have more users than iPhone..and if the Android thing really blows up like people say it will..T-Mobilers that are going through all the trouble for an iPhone won't feel the need to go through it if there is something on their carrier that is equally as good...if not better.

At&t will be screwed if iPhone decides not be exclusive..but if I were Apple..I would at the very least get T-Mobile in on the iPhone. Then it wouldn't be a huge hit to At&t and Apple will get more people on the iPhone wagon.

we need a thread every day on whether members will ever start searching before posting. :) I think even then they would still post these threads.

QFT. NO VERIZON any time soon.

I know people are so clueless that they can't use the search feature, but what I hate is the incorrect spelling and grammar in the thread titles. I mean come on... "are you hoping apple get rid..."

well if we go the apple fan boys are screaming about the answer is hell no.

I mean these fanboys are not defending ATT and thinking of them as the greatest thing since slice bread all because they sell the iPhone.

They are saying Verizon sucks for *blank* reason and AT&T is better for *blank* reason.

Sorry could not resist the temptation to pick on the blind mindless fanboys.

Yes i do, cause id like to stay just on verizon. AT&T isnt horrible, but i believe APPLE can get alot more handsets out there if some of these rumors for the next generation iPhone with a Quallcomm radio and it being CDMA/GSM capable. The iPhone has the possibility to overtake for a while, Andrioid Phones and Blackberries are the upcoming rivals to this as well.

IT would be good for all companies to get the same thing, make it more competitive then the already competitive market now, and make these carriers really try to keep up on their networks, and truly try to make theirs the best..

:apple:FTW

Their exclusivity runs out, not their contract. They'll continue to sell them. The rumor is that in 2010 Verizon could become another carrier, so folks can buy an iPhone from either AT&T OR Verizon. However, based on recent events, and Apple running to the defense of AT&T in their recent ads, I don't see the iPhone going to Verizon anytime soon. Could be wrong, but we'll see.

Face it...all carriers have strengths/weaknesses. Verizon sucks in my area, and I'd NEVER buy a Verizon handset. I remember supporting Blackberry's from all the various carriers, and Verizon's were the worst. Things I had available on the other handsets weren't available on Verizon's, or it was some bastardized version they created. So personally, I could care less if the iPhone was ever available on Verizon. Off topic, but I had a chance to play with their [Verizon] new Droid. Sorry, but I don't see the hype. Keyboard is horrible, and the overall look/feel of the device is nasty [IMO]. Others may think different, and that's their opinion.

Anywho...sit back, and wait and see...

Mindless fanboys? So if something works for you, and you like using the technology you're a fanboy? Sounds like sour grapes to me. If the iPhone is so bad, and AT&T is horrible, then you should be happy to go to Verizon and buy one of their many available handsets. I mean, I'm sure the handsets they have are far superior to that of the iPhone, and obviously their service far exceeds that of AT&T, so it's a win/win for you, no?

If none of that applies to you, then my guess is that you're upset because you really do like the iPhone, and only wish it were available on Verizon. But since it's not, your argument is that "I like to come on here, and bash the fanboys"...

If Steve Jobs refuses to do business with Verizon because he has a grudge over a few commercials, thus causing Apple to lose millions in additional revenue, his stockholders should encourage the Apple's board to fire him. I doubt he is that stupid.

Wow, where is kdarling for this thread? I could have sworn he would have jumped in to bash by now?

Weird. :D

Yea, maybe they can get Sculley back. The stockholders would love that.

When they bash and make your product look bad, are you going to do business with them? No, you go with someone else. Here, that someone else is T-Mobile.

Verizon can screw themselves.

I really don't care if Apple looks to partner with another carrier in the US. My at&t service is pretty good, and I wouldn't leave them.

I would jump to verizon in a heartbeat. Better service in my area and so far from what I can tell it is better service in all areas I frequent. I lost service on my way to Florence SC once, the person sitting next to me had near-full service.
Yeah I would move.

I could really care less, quite frankly I have had much better service on AT&T then Verizon.

I agree with you there. I've been with AT&T for like 8 years. But then again, I've always lived in Urban areas. But I still get coverage everywhere I go. As well as no dropped calls.

It's not like I'll be downloading porn and torrents while driving. :D

ahh does the truth hurt. I was making fun of the post of people bashing Verizon and praising ATT. It was really funny to watch that because as soon as Verizon started bashing ATT and partly was making fun of the iPhone biggest problem (ATT) the apple fanboys really jumped on that one and started hammering Verizon and really defending ATT. Just go read the threads about the Droid, or Verizon new commercials comparing ATT maps to Verizons.
From then on out around here it has been Verizon hate ATT better.

I don't think it would be a bad move on Apples part to add T-Mobile as a carrier.

Half of all the T-Mo people out there have iPhones anyways..if they were to add T-Mo to the Apple world..all the myTouch settlers would drop that phone very quickly for the iPhone. PLUS Verizon is talking smack and they would have to make phones compatible with how they do their whole data thing. Apple would save money not having to make brand new phones..because T-Mo uses SIM cards. Though T-Mo would have to invest money in making their 3G network better and compatible with the iPhone.

really money wise..T-Mobile would be the way to go. They will lose money staying exclusive with AT&T.

I believe the more carriers that have the iPhone the better. The more iPhones that are sold the more applications will be created for the iPhone and the carriers may offer discounts on the iPhone to get people to switch. For me, I have been with ATT now for 3 years and in my area there is no difference in service so I would not switch back to Verizon. However, I have some family members on Verizon and they don't want to switch to ATT but would love to get the iPhone. They have more friends and other family on Verizon so they want to stay on Verizon.
