Or thereabouts? Wondering what the graphics performance is like with Metal under the hood now...

Do waveforms and thumbnails redraw any faster now? Waveform redraw is honestly my biggest concern. Anything else you can tell me is gravy :)

And anything at all is appreciated :D

As far as I understood, applications will only benefit from Metal once they have been re-written to take advantage of it.

Not only that, but Metal will only run on 2012 and newer Macs. OPs computer wouldn't even support it.

Is that really confirmed by now? Because the AMD HD6750m/6770m in the 15" late '11 Macbooks is actually more capable than the Intel HD 4000 in 2012 Macbooks which support Metal.

I know they are but during a WWDC workshop Apple said it required a 2012 or newer Mac. IIRC, someone said the 6750/6770 had a different architecture or something compared to the more recent AMD cards. I'll have to look for the links, but I know the 2011's aren't supported unfortunately.

Yup, because these older AMD cards don't use the GCN shader architecture.
