Since the first iPhone in 2007, I have never skipped an iPhone that came after but this year, I’m not so sure if I will do cuz I’m very very happy with my 11 Pro Max and 11 Pro. With the notch and lightning port staying for another year, I’m thinking of waiting for the alleged revolutionary 2021 iPhone. Not sure though.

Perfectly normal to not get every generation these days as the updates are getting more incremental.

I wouldn’t expect the notch to go next year though to be honest.

depends i think most don’t need to upgrade every year but I always do. Aside from no pro motion this should still be a good upgrade but most people won’t need an even better camera which is what we will see this year.

night mode on telephoto will be nice but again not must have for most people. Some may want 5G or a new design dunno.

Maybe. I’ll see what’s up in September. Might sit this out.

If they offer a odd color like the Green last year I may go for it.

I skipped all the “S” versions, and at one point switched to Android, but witched back to iPhone. I really wanted to upgrade from the X to the 12 because I thought the notch would be gone. I may hold out for another year, or I may get the 12, my daughter is going to need a phone so I might use that as an excuse for me to get the 12 and pass down the X to her.

I'll be upgrading from the X to the 6.1 12Pro.. I purposely skipped the XS and the 11Pro because to be honest, the X is more than capable for what I use a phone for and neither of the newer phones really wowed me. The 11Pro was tempting for a lot of reasons and the 5.8 size is really the perfect size in my opinion so if the 12Pro 6.1 turns out to be too big, I might find myself looking at the 11Pro or maybe in the first time in my life, keep my X phone for another year (4 years would be the longest I've ever kept a phone) to see what the successor to the 12Pro will be like.

I'm in IUP, so most likely yes.

The biggest reason is the modem. The Intel modems are absolute trash.
Bigger screen, maybe less notch
Better camera
5G

I could consider to upgrade my XS SG 64 gb to a new model with 128/256 gb. Maybe the "famous" 12 5.4", we will see.

Tough decision this year. Right now I´m @11pro and normally I buy a new phone every two years.
But: I absolutely LOVE the edgy form factor! And I´m superstitious and buying a iPhone 13!! next year?
Had to deal a year with ios 13!! and that´s enough for this bad luck number!

Yes.

But, the only reason is that I have decided to move to a "Max" size phone (have always had "regular size" iphone). I figure I can use a Max phone for everything that I use my ipad for and it will let me get rid of a device.

I'm part of the problem and I'm a sheep. I will be upgrading 100%. My money is ready.

Mid-night blue is the new color
Same here. I actually have two iPhone upgrade program phones going. I did them a year apart so I can do my payments for two years and not have to trade in the phone at the end. it's just rolling and I keep all of my old devices.

I was originally going to wait to get the 12 Pro Max, but with how uncertain these times are and how uncertain it is that these devices will release in the Fall, I figured I might as well get the 11 Pro Max and I did, back in April. I don’t regret my decision and I am very happy with the phone. I feel there’s no need for me to get the 12 Pro Max now and I’m perfectly fine with that.

I am extremely excited to upgrade as I vastly prefer the angular design of the iPhone 4/5 era and honestly dislike the current curved design. However, my plan is to get the iPhone 12 rather than the 12 Pro for the size unless there are exclusive features for the Pro that sway me (still undecided if the 3rd camera is one of those)

‘Promotion‘ would be the only real feature that would suit my interest. There’s so many other Apple products that I’d rather invest in with Apple tags, new HomePod coming, AirPods, etc. The iPhone is such a mature device, nobody ‘needs’ to upgrade a phone on an annual basis, unless it’s absolutely something the tech sector or hasn’t witnessed before, [Face ID/the iPhone X form factor being an example].

I can’t agree more.
