As I troubleshoot some persistent slowness related to running two user accounts on my Mac (one for work, one for personal stuff, logged in with separate Apple IDs), I am wondering if this is in fact a very niche use case or whether others are using their Macs this way. Curious to hear people's experiences.

Those of you for whom it's working great, would be interested to know what kind of hardware you're running. Thanks!

M1 Air in clamshell mode, or in normal laptop mode.

I have three accounts on mine. Mine, wife, and one kid, though neither of them use it very often.

I think I might have to bite the bullet and do a completely from scratch install then. I've had this really frustrating and recurring issue with my M1 iMac (8 core, 16 GB RAM) where when I'm logged into my personal and work accounts at the same time, I start seeing a visible lag when dragging windows around in the Finder. I made a big post about it some months back but was never able to trace back what's going on.

I have also hit the same issue with my M1 MacBook Air (also 16 GB of RAM). I'm starting to wonder if it has something to do with Adobe Creative Cloud, as that's present on my work accounts on both machines and is very aggressive about running background processes.
