I have a couple smart playlists set up, so that I limit the amount of music on my phone to 5 gig.

Arg! Recently, I've noticed not enough songs on my phone. Eg, not 5GB.

Let's say one playlist is set to hold 1 gig of music. I looked at iTunes on the computer, and it has 1GB, but around 200MB is stuff I deleted but somehow "came back" on the cloud! And it is not sycning, which is fine, but it is still taking up space in the smart playlist!

I could go and review every song and permanently delete the ones I don't want. However, even though songs have started reappearing only recently, it is bring back songs I deleted over a year ago! So, I have upwards of 300 songs to look through.

If I just turn off iCloud, will this stuff all just disappear. P.S., I never turned on iCloud, it just started happening.

Thanks.

Just realized. I think this may have started when I upgraded to iTunes 11. Should I (can I) switch back to 10?

Wow, 500 views and no thoughts on this?

Answering my own question:

In the main iTunes screen, go to "View" and select "Hide Music in the Cloud".

In your Smart Playlist, CTRL-click your Smart Playlist to edit, and add the following parameter:
"Location" "is" "on this computer"

That did it.
