I love my apple tv and would not trade it for the world.
I reevaluate keeping myTV every time it disappears from my iTunes devices list. However, I continue to keep it around.
I've said it over and over againthis product has potential, but for whatever reason Apple is slowly letting it die by failing to provide continued updates as promised.
It's been since March, where are the simple fixes such as video playlists?
I have nothing to say but great things about my apple TV. We have to understand that Media Streamers etc. are for "geeks". People shy away from technology that isn't plug and play. The vast majority is still returning Plasma/LCD tvs due to the bad PQ but not realizing that they don't have a HD feed in order to receive the PQ.
I love my apple tv and would not trade it for the world. Also for all my friends that come over to enjoy all the movies, photos, and music at a click of the remote don't care about the mpeg4 x264 quality or the non-discrete 5.1 DTS/DPL.
I say enjoy the unit and don't read into all the negativity.
Job's vision isn't wrong, but it may have unintended consequences.
I love Apple products and always have. The ease of simplicity and excellent design are marvels of modern electronics. But what's always stuck in my side like a thorn is the inflexibility of the company's non-computer products. It's a reason I don't own a single Apple product.

An SDK would go a long way...simple games etc...
And its not gonna happen, but DivX support out of the box...
Some Turbo.264 v1.1 exports are resetting Apple TV
Turbo.264 version 1.1 offers many new features, including custom presets. In certain circumstances, specific frame rate settings may create a file that does not work well with Apple TV.
The normal frame rate for video in North America is 29.97. If your original file has a frame rate other than 29.97, then the “Automatic” frame rate setting may create a file that causes Apple TV to reset. When the file is selected in Apple TV, a black screen with an Apple logo will appear, before returning to the Apple TV menu.
This issue did not exist with Turbo.264 version 1.0.1 software, and it should be resolved in an future update. Currently, we are working with Apple to find a fast solution. We apologize for the inconvenience.
I think there will be an update to the ATV Software in the near future
why?

elgato would be able to solve this problem on their own for the current version of ATV but it seems that they are waiting for the release of the 2.0 Version of the ATV OS X
I just want weather on my AppleTV. Is that so much to friggin' ask for.
