iPod artist on iTunes but not synced to iPod?

I don't understand why I have artists on my iTunes but they don't show up on my iPod!
I've screwed around with things in "get info" and managed to get some of the artists to show, but not all.
The albums do appear even when the artist doesn't.
Any thoughts?

I had this problem, the artists that were doing this for me were one's whose tracks were all part of a compilation, uncheck the part of a compilation thing under "get info" and all should work.
