iPod artist/song listings vanished from ipod

all the song listings have gone from my ipod?
all the information is still on there, ie i can play the songs from my ipod thru itunes when connected to my ibook but not from the ipod on its own.

i'm not sure when this happened. i gave it to a friend who was taking some information off my ipod (have my sis wedding footage stored on there at the moment) and when i went to listen to the doves latest on the train home, nothing! argh!

little help?

i know i could just up it all to the pod again but it's about 30gig and it's not all stored on my ibook (most of it is on backed up cdrs as info files)

thats kinda similar to me. i have the same songs in two different playlists on iTunes and on my 4g/20g ipod. however on my ipod the the songs don't appear in one of the playlists! also sometimes the ipod decides to skip songs automatically without playing them! how odd. sorry i have no idea how to fix it though.

Same thing happened to me about an hour ago. Took my iPod out to the car, and there was no music on it. Brought it back in, hooked to the iBook, and iTunes sees all the music. It even sync'ed up and added a song once it was connected. I have many times accidently disconnected the Firewire cable without unmounting the iPod, so I guess it's my own fault. I'd like an easy fix to get it working again without sync'ing 20 gigs of music again.

It is a 60 gig iPod Photo, if that makes a difference.

Anyone?

even odder (is that a word?) ... i decided to back up the wedding footage off the pod and on to my ibook, taking up nearly all the remaining ibook HD space, after doing so i disconnected the ipod and hey presto! the songs were once again listed! i didn't do anything else to them, the wedding footage is still on there .. so very weird.

mine, podpod, is also a 60ipod photo. i should metion that when the songs went missing so did the photos. at first is showed only three or four of the eighteen i have on there, then nothing. now everything is back.
