Artistic Effects in Illustrator: ugly white pixels around a path

I'm using Illustrator CS4/CS5 and have a question about Artistic Effects such as Sponge.

When applying sponge to a path, white pixels appear around the edges. Any solution for this?

Can you attach a screenshot? I haven't been able to reproduce that.

Is this in Illustrator, or when you import the Illustrator file into another program?

Did you check EFFECTS > Document Raster Effects Settings (set resolution and anti-alias options according to your needs)?

Ive tried both path and ellipse and I cant see a problem. Other than the effect itself has white specks.

Thanks for your responses. The issue was resolved by exporting at a sufficiently high resolution to Photoshop.
