Artists: 11-inch or 12.9 for drawing?

Any artists here who can share their thoughts about the 11 or 12.9 inch iPad Pros for drawing? Which one did you pick and why?

Thank you for your insights. I have the 11-inch but I am thinking of getting the 12.9 instead and drawing is an important use for me.

I have used both the 10.5 and the 12.9 just fine for drawing. I ended up getting the larger model because I also use it as my ‘laptop’ and I simply wanted the bigger screen

I definitely prefer the 12.9 for drawing. I had the Apple Pencil for my 9.7 and 10.5 pro’s but barely used it. I haven’t put down my 12.9 since launch day. Having a ton of fun on a costume design project. View attachment upload_2018-11-22_20-8-28.jpeg

Good point, I don't own a laptop either. Something else to consider.

Nice drawing, good stuff. So the larger size makes it more comfortable for you to draw then?

The thing that really pushed me to the 12.9 was that while the overall canvas of the 11” is big enough, once you start opening tool sets and brush palates you lose a good portion of real estate. The 12.9 feels perfect after two weeks of prolonged use.

I have the 11” and I find it plenty of space for drawing. I also like how portable it is, so I can take my “sketchbook” everywhere.

Same. Even with the decreased size of the 12.9, it still feels bulky to me. The 11" iPad is the Goldilocks of iPads for me.

Everyone needs to just try it out for themselves though. There's no correct answer.

i can draw just fine on my 9.7 but i prefer the 12.9, and a matte screen protector.

If its just a hobby get the smaller one. If your a pro or aspiring to be, get the 12.9. If you draw all day its more comfortable.

If you have a big cintiq already than a small one might be nice just for portability, its up to you.

Yup.
Open up some apps at the store and you will quickly see that with some tools around the 11" gives you very little space to draw.
The new 12.9 is not so unptorable but a little big and heavy.. I'd say worth it for drawing though.

It really comes down to how portable do you want/need it.

The 12.9 is great for drawing at home or anywhere you have a specific, purposeful time for drawing, but it’s probably not the one you want to take with you everywhere (your mileage may vary of course).

The 11 is a great compermise - smaller screen, but much more portable, especially with a small bag.

A combination of the 12.9 and the Mini 5 might be a pretty great situation - the 12.9 for purposeful sessions and the Mini 5 as an on-the-go sketchpad.
