Artists thumbnail in Music App

I like to shuffle play all albums by a particular artist so my default view in the music app is artist view. The problem is some of the artist thumbnails are not updated. Does anyone know how to remedy this? From my understanding if there is no artist thumbnail it's supposed to use the album art instead.

Probably the only thing I really don't like about the new Music app is that artists without a default photo no longer just shows an album cover like it did since the 8.4 redesign. Way back then I sent feedback about letting us attach an image ourselves (similar to how you can add any custom image to a playlist.) Perhaps it's time to send that feedback in again. I'd be happy if iOS 10 at the very least went back to album art if no default picture from iTunes is added, at least there would be an image instead of that plain microphone icon.

Unlike some MR posters though, I will still use the app because I don't over react and refuse to use something just because some aesthetic isn't to my "liking".

I can totally work with the native music app. It's just seeing a mic icon like the screenshot you posted next to an obvious artist is kind of annoying. I'm suspecting the artist thumbnail fetch comes from Apple Music for whatever reason but I don't subscribe to the service.

This has bothered me for a while, but over the course of the last few weeks I've started to see a lot more of my artists getting custom pics, so Apple is clearly working on it.

The problems with app go beyond the aesthetics (though they are not good); it has significantly poor usability for those who don't use Apple Music or iTunes Match.

It's definitely hit and miss for me and the missing ones aren't always small artists. I've got a Nat King Cole album and he doesn't have a thumbnail in the artist view. I can understand it not having more obscure artists but not one of the most well known of all time?

It pulls the artist image if they have an iTunes page, no Apple Music required. That's how it's always done it. Except iOS 8.4-9.3.5 also just used an album cover of the artist didn't have a page (therefore no image to be used)

What I meant by all that is some around these forums like to go overboard Kicking and screaming if iOS doesn't go their way. Many occasions have been purely based off small cosmetics.

Gotcha.
Mine only shows songs bought from iTunes Store, not imported from various sourses.

So most of my "artists" are empty anyway.
