I calibrated my iMac monitor every month or so .... is that a good practice with an ASD?

agreed but over time does it remain calibrated?
What are you using the display for?

If you are making color prints on an epson printer at home, you can easily judge the calibration by looking at the prints.

if you are doing color correcting for CMYK print, you can judge the calibration from the proofs.

According to Rtings, the ASD is one of the most accurate displays out of the box. I was going to calibrate my pair of ASDs but after reading Rtings reviews, decided to not do it.

There is certainly no harm in having a regular schedule for calibration. I have a 14 year old 30" ACD in one location and a 10 year old NEC Multisync in another. I calibrate them every 3-4 months just to be sure for critical color printing. Why would a Studio Display be different?
