Anyone else have an iPad Pro with Apple Smart Keyboard that sometimes doesn’t register/type??

On nearly a daily basis my ASK won’t type, and I have to disconnect it, turn the ipad off and on and reconnect it to make it work. That usually does the trick but it is a pain in the neck.

Is it worth going to the Apple Store to fix this?

What are other people’s experiences?

My experience was like yours. Got my IPP 12.9 2nd gen in November last year. I ordered an ASK with it. Worked fine for about 6 weeks then started to disconnect on it’s own. I would have to do the same as you. January i went to local Apple store. They did some checks , found nothing wrong but gave me a new keyboard. Good for about six weeks then started disconnecting again. Fed up, I went back to apple for return. They wouldn’t refund me but gave me store credit. I am temporarily using a Jorno folding keyboard. It works well. I have a Textblade keyboard on order which i hope to see in the fall. It’s at end of its development stage and should have public release by then.
There are quite a few threads about this issue. I believe the issues is the 3 contacts that meet between the keyboard and iPad. If they aren’t perfectly lined up or there is some kind of dirt on them, the connection doesn’t keep. Just a guess.
As for the store credit, i bought AirPods and love them.

This happened to me as well after about 6 months. I went back to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one, which has been working all right since.

I’ve heard that this is a pretty common problem with the ASKs.

Yes, I often experience this.. and also with the on-screen keyboard. The iPad Pro 10.5 has been the worst experience ever for me, pure trash. Can’t wait for the next gen!
