I read that it would be coming to OS X a while back – good to see it confirmed! I wonder if that'll apply to Steam as well – that's where I have the game (got it for free).

A promotion on Newegg for certain Intel processors. This was a while ago, so don't bother looking for it.

Ridiculous system requirements, cider, and Ubisoft's DRM-fail...no thanks.

Nice price, though. Cheaper than Steam's PC version.

I'll pick it up eventually like I did the first: $10 steam sale.

well, this game is fun. but there is a huge problem. without internet connection, you can't play it at all. this is totally **** up. I take a business trip a lot with my laptop. there is not always available for free or payable internet in areas. I think that AC II is not the first game what Ubisoft put ridiculous DRM crack into. that's why their actual profit has been decreased comparing to last year.

This game runs flawlessly on my MacBook under Windows 7 (if you ignore the DRM issues that are a very real problem).
Now apparently my processor isn't enough, graphics card isn't enough, AND can't use my controller? Way to make a sale.
Pass.

I still haven't played this yet but i loved the first one, despite its detractors. Looks like i will be getting the windows version though. Keep those graphics updates coming Apple!

Just because the PC version is on Steam doesn't mean the Mac version will be released there as well.. There's a lot of existing Mac ports that haven't made it onto steam.

I wouldn't be surprised if Assassins Creed was only sold through other online retailers like Gamers Gate, Macgamestore etc.

More Mac gaming should be supported through Steam. Hell, more PC gaming should be through Steam.

Steam is a brilliant service, its DRM without being invasive or crippling.

It's probably not going to be on steam. I font think there are is Any transgaming stuff on there now.

I'd prefer not to have Ubisoft's DRM, but I will say it hasn't given me an issue since the first week I had the game (and then only once). Again, I'd rather not have it, but it does work.

Does it use Cider though? I haven't seen that.

Also, regarding the 3GHz processor requirement, that's for a Core 2 Duo. Not the Core iX machines. :)

All of Ubisoft's ported games have used Cider thus far. I don't think it's been explicitly stated for AC2, but I think we can say with some certainty that it will be cider. (It would also explain the high system requirements.)

It's still ridiculously high. The windows version requires a 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo, and 2.8 C2D is recommended.

Bought this for PS3 the moment it came out as I loved the first one. To be honest I was disappointed. It just doesn't have the same feel as the first.

Couple that with the ******** marketing crap trying to get you to buy multiple copies for different platforms to unlock crap...get real ********s...

love this game so much. I already beat it three times. it is better than assassin's creed one. I hate one because there are so many repetitive jobs whenever I go. you know.... steal something, interrogating someone, of course, killing someone. two offers you a lot of interesting side quests, and missions. using armor, weapon, upgrading them, buying something, and so on. incredible. in assassin's creed one, you can't do that. there are no options. well, I just wait for PC version of assassin's creed brotherhood because it's delay for Feb. 22, 2011. I am so pissed off. anyway, I won't buy mac version. I already have PC version. PC version is better no matter what. I doubt that mac version will give you the same performance. I don't think so.

Resurrecting this thread to comment on this…

Fired up Steam today and AC2 appeared in my games list. So I'm downloading it now. :)

pre-order for AC 2? too late. I have so pissed off when PC version of AC brotherhood was delay for next year. I have to wait for it next Feb. 22, 2011. I already finished AC 2 twice. so I am done. but I am not sure about mac version for performance. I don't think it will be the same. plus, there will be only macbook pro 15, 17 inch model, or imac, mac pro can run this game according to predicted system requirement. if you have macbook, macbook pro 13inch, macbook air, don't even try. it won't work.

What? Preorder? No, I got AC2 with my i7-930 in April (freebie) through Steam. Now it's in my Mac games list as well.

Also, I have a Mac Pro, and a hackintosh, so the system requirements mean little to me.
